What to do in Shenzhen?
Shenzhen is located on the southern coast of China, in the southern part of Guangdong Province and on the eastern bank of the Pearl River Estuary. As a national economic center, sci-tech innovation center, regional financial center and commercial & logistics center, it is one of the cities with the best economic benefits in Chinese mainland. It boasts various tourist resources, including theme parks like Window of the World and Happy Valley, natural landscapes such as Wutong Mountain and Dameisha Seaside Park, as well as historical and cultural relics like Nantou Ancient Town.
Dameisha Beach Park: Located in Yantian District, Shenzhen, Dameisha Beach Park sits at the foot of Wutong Mountain and beside Dapeng Bay. As one of Shenzhen’s most iconic coastal leisure landmarks, it has been a beloved recreational destination cherished by generations of Shenzhen residents since its opening in 1999.The1800-meter-long golden beach features soft and fine sand. On sunny days, the glistening sea surface and green mountains form a natural picture scroll. The 1-kilometer-long coastal boardwalk built along the sea is a popular check-in spot—with waves crashing against the reefs beneath your feet and palm trees providing shade beside you, walking here allows you to immerse yourself in the sea breeze and sea views.
Happy Harbor: Situated at the intersection of Baohua Road and Haitian Road in Bao’an District, Happy Harbor is a national 4A-level tourist attraction and one of the most iconic coastal landmarks in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The winding boardwalk along the coast allows visitors to immerse themselves in the breeze and sea scenery. At night, the Ferris wheel’s twinkling lights reflect on the water, forming a romantic urban nightscape that makes every shot worthy of being a wallpaper . The “Voice of the Bay” Shenzhen Coastal Art Center within the scenic area gathers world-class performances, while the Zhongshuge Library—hailed as “Shenzhen’s most beautiful library”—features spiral staircases and abundant books, offering a quiet haven amid the bustle.
Wutong Mountain is home to Shenzhen’s highest peak, known as the “No.1 Peak of Pengcheng” (Pengcheng is an alias of Shenzhen). From here, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. With a forest coverage rate of 88.6%, it boasts abundant animal and plant resources. Every March to April, alpine Rhododendron moulmainense (the only alpine rhododendron species in Shenzhen) and other flowers are in full bloom, presenting a beautiful ecological landscape. Meanwhile, Wutong Mountain has profound cultural heritage—attractions such as the “Wuling Tianchi” (a scenic spot dating back to the Ming Dynasty) and the North Gate Archway with Lingnan style are worth visiting. It is a comprehensive scenic area integrating mountain climbing, scenery appreciation and research learning.
